The General’s Stack

As you can imagine, I get asked all the time what products I use and how I use them.  Obviously (or at least it should be), the only performance supplements I use are made by my company, Advanced Genetics. Why the heck would I use anything else? But, I do know that many athletes that are sponsored by various supplement brands (some that even lend their names to the brand!) don’t actually use the products at all.  My case is a little different…I actually formulate my own products and have a GMP certified manufacturer that I trust to find the highest quality ingredients to put into them.  And unlike most figureheads, I’ve been using my products for the last 10 years and they’ve helped me become an IFBB Pro…not the other way around. So, with little stopping me from creating the best supplements in the world (I don’t have investors to answer to and profit has never been the driving force behind what I do), I’m able to do just that.

Today I’m going to share with you my peri-workout supplement stack.  For those unfamiliar with the term “peri” it means “around”. These are the supplements I use before, during and after my workouts. There is a lot of research that supports proper peri-workout nutrition and many of the top gurus have recommended them to support maximum growth and recovery.  Charles Poliquin, Milos Sarcev, and John Meadows to name just three.

Warning: this stack causes unreal pumps and you may just question their legality when used in combination!!!

Let’s start with the pre-workout.  I use Warfare OR Flash Bang – combining the two is highly not recommended (thus the capitalized “or”) due to high stimulant content.  If you are stim sensitive, use one scoop Warfare or one capsule Flash Bang.  If you’re seasoned, use two scoops Warfare or two Flash Bang caps.  Which I choose really depends on my mood, or whether or not I feel rushed that day.  If I want a super tasty drink I’ll use Warfare (I’ll use 1.5 scoops and then add another 1/2 scoop to my intra-workout drink) or if I want the convenience of popping a couple of pills, I’ll go with Flash Bang.  Both deliver a similar stimulant effect and both work very well for delivering a great pump.

I’ll wash down the Flash Bang with one scoop of GP3 EVO. Or, if I go with my pre-workout powder, I’ll mix one scoop together with the Warfare. Some days I’ll just go with the GP3 EVO capsules which I’ll take evenly distributed throughout the day or five capsules before training and five post workout.

For intra-workout it’s Battle Juice all the way! Two scoops supplies me with 10 grams of essential amino acids (it’s the same specialized EAA formula that can also be found in our AMMO-8 product), 50 grams of the super carb, cluster dextrin, and a number of other muscle building, performance-enhancing ingredients. I will add my second scoop of GP3 EVO to this and 1/2 scoop Warfare (unless I chose Flash Bang as my pre).

For post workout, I’ll take five capsules or one scoop of GP3 EVO, unless I put it in my intra.  I’ll eat my next meal within 60 minutes of finishing my workout.

Here’s how it looks in a  simple chart:

Pre-workout (30 minutes before)
500ml water
1.5 scoops Warfare or 2 capsules Flash Bang
1 scoop or 5 capsules GP3 EVO
Intra-workout (sip)
750 ml water (full AG shaker)
2 scoops Battle Juice
.5 scoop Warfare (unless Flash Bang was taken)
Post-workout (immediately post)
300ml water
1 scoop or 5 capsules GP3 EVO (optional: take intra-workout)

The pumps I get from this stack are absolutely unfreakin’ believable!!! If you are serous about your training, you will certainly appreciate this stack and I promise it will take your training to another level entirely. I’ve reached my own physique goals using Advanced Genetics supplements…now it’s your turn! Oo-rah!
